Our Staff

Ian Ian took over the family business in 1985 from his aunt and uncle and it has grown since then. Ian was born in Castle Douglas and has spent his life here except for 6 years in Australia where he taught P.E. in a boys school and played professional football. Ian is committed to serving the local community.
Kimberley Kimberley, Ian’s daughter initially accepted a part-time position in the family business in 2011. She continued to work in her career as a midwife in Cresswell, Dumfries. In 2015, she became a full time Partner with her father Ian Bendall in the family run company and has been instrumental in the new design of the extensive building improvements that were carried out in 2015.
Richard Richard began part-time work with our firm in 2000 before joining us in a full time position in 2006. Previously he had been employed with Douglas Swan & Sons (Monumental Mason in Kirkcudbright.) He is still involved in this area of work and offers advice with regard to all headstone requirements in conjunction with Swans. Richard trained as an embalmer with William Purves & Sons in Edinburgh in 2011. He is our Senior Undertaker within the company.
Noëline Noëline came to work for the firm in a part-time capacity in April 2013. She was previously employed with Historic Scotland and has been a Civil Wedding Celebrant with Dumfries and Galloway Council since 2002. She accepted full time employment with us in 2014 were she has extended her work as a Civil Funeral Celebrant which is a business that she started in 2006. Noëline provides funeral ceremonies for those who would prefer a non-religious ceremony.
Dougie Dougie has been employed with us as an undertaker in a part time position since 2008. He has also been a retained Fire Fighter at Castle Douglas Fire Station since 2002 – serving the local community in the Stewartry area. He has a pivotal role in the day to day running of Ian Bendall’s company.
Willie Willie is also a retained Fire Fighter in Castle Douglas and has worked for us in the capacity as a part time Undertaker since 2012. He in addition, holds a position as an Independent Financial Advisor with a firm in Dumfries.
Kate Kate is our longest serving member of the team, having been employed in a part time position with Ian Bendall since the business opened – over 30 years ago! She works in the office and reception area of our premises.
Kevin Kevin is very part time with the firm due to his own business as a builder and helps out when needed. Kevin is married to Kimberley.
